About

Early in my education after 18 years of basic painting and drawing studying, and 1 year of graphic design studying in Tsinghua university, Beijing, China; I made a decision to change my major to photography and study abroad in San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, USA.

Photography satisfies my fantasy and creation.

Most of my photography directions are about documentary and fine arts.

There is an innate curiosity we have in each other as humans; this is the fuel behind much of my artistic practice.

I started with hip hop dancefrom my familiar object, hip-hop dance, which is one of my hobbies. I spent half year to document the San Francisco’s local hip-hop dancers. This project leaded me to join the documentary field. After that I spent a year documenting a transgender boy, Jin’s life. The story is about his mental and physical transition. I am glad to record his life and share it to other people who might be feeling confused to their genders, or be suffering the ambient pressure.

After facing amounts of hormone injections through Jin’s life, disease and gender are becoming important themes in my present career. I started to focus on my father’s nephritis disease and made a series of documentary photography of him lately. Through this series of photos, I got chance to sit down with him, take care, listen to his life and get close to him. The photography draws a line of connection between people and me.
