Mimi Mollica

My work falls into the category of reportage/documentary photography. I work on long-term projects that offer an insight on socio-economical and political issues. I am interested in contributing with my photographs to the broader debate on our history and our condition, for example, the implications of Development in Senegal, the effects of Mafia in Sicily, the illegal immigration on the coasts of Sicily and the harsh conditions of living poor in Pakistan, Brazil, Thailand, India and Greece and my ongoing research to document the issues of surveillance and identity in the UK. My photo essays have been published in magazines such as The Guardian Weekend, Newsweek Japan, Granta, The Sunday Times, Spiegel, Burn among many others. Some of my works have also been featured in books like Street Photography Now (T&H 2010), London Street Photography (Museum of London 2011) and In The Life Of Cities (L Muller 2012). I have been awarded with a number of prizes, recognitions and won several contests from my documentary projects, and I have exhibited my photography in countless solo and collective exhibitions such as Le Rencontres D’Arles, The London Street Photography Festival, The European Parliament in Strasbourg, The Jerwood Space in London, New York Museum and MILK gallery NYC.Â
