This is the first segment in an ongoing photo documentary about the voices behind punk rock, about a society of outcasts finding a home amongst each other. A place where the impressionable minds of youth can be strengthened and where it is okay to "question otherwise."This segment was focused around a group of kids that when rejected by the societal norms of Salt Lake City formed a self sustaining co-op, a community that has come together to support other kids and passers through who need a place to go, a floor to sleep on, a bite to eat or where kids come to voice their opinion to a like minded crowd. Through punk rock music, and a vegan food co-op called "food not bombs," this self-sustaining crash pad known as the "Boing House" supports the local Punk scene with food, shelter, and place to play loud music fast and skank away the pain.

This house is especially important for an area like Salt Lake city where a dense population of Mormons reside and supreses differences and all things deemed "bad." There are kids that seem to be out casted when questioning their religion, in some cases disowned for lack of strictly following the LDS guidelines, thrown out and left to fend for themselves making it a hard choice as a young adults to confront their parents if they believe differently.

These photographs accompany several hours of recordings of the thoughts and opinions that make up the voice behind punk.
