Karen Nachtergaele

I am Karen Nachtergaele, a Belgian based photographer born in 1984. I've always been a very curious, creative and socially driven person. I studied occupational therapy in Ghent. My interest in photography started in my mid-twenties. I discovered the work of some great photographers such as James Nachtwey, Lewis Hine, Marcus Bleasdale,... I was touched by the way they capture the world and the power of their images. In 2009 I started stuying photography in evening classes and worked as a fulltime occupational therapist with children and young people with learning problems, autism and developmental problems. 

Right now, in my personal photography projects, I focus on social issues and try to tell them through one (or several) particular human experience(s).
