Katz RIssman began her career as a commercial still life photographer before dedicating herself soley to shooting long-term personal projects, choosing large format analog cameras to produce detailed evocative images. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in venues such as the University Of The Arts - Philadelphia, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Soho Photo Gallery, Powerhouse Arena, The Photographic Center Northwest, The Central Brooklyn Public Library and recently at The Berlin Foto Biennale. She was awarded the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for People and Culture (2015), The Photo Review National Award (2014), three images for best fine art photography at the New York Photo Festival (2012) and a portraiture award at PX3 Prix De La Photographie, Paris (2008). Her work has been posted and/or reviewed in The New Yorker, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography and she was the featured artist in Slate, The Forward Thinking Museum, and Photo District News.
Katz Rissman is a BRIC Arts Media Fellow and lives in Brooklyn with her family.
