Strictly Street ::: In living colour

At first, it seemed odd to take pictures of total strangers.

There was also the element of fear - would my subject react badly (would I get punched in the face)?

I know I don't like having my picture taken - but then again, I'm quite shy by nature.

These days, though, street photography has become one of my favourite things to do.

I still feel a lot like I'm pickpocketing a 'souvenir' of a street scene (and someone's privacy on occasion),

but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I often find that captions are useful mental post-its of the thoughts that came to mind when a street scene

presented itself. There are so many moments which look like they could have been captured anywhere

in the world, which makes me wonder how different we really are. But of course we are also very

different - that is equally true on any given day! No doubt, such dynamic contradictions

give us the countless scenes that repeat themselves (or not), on the streets around the world, which

can be found if you look out for them.

Here are my souvenirs from the past 12 months observing the streets with a camera, in my adopted home

and while travelling. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have delighted in collecting them.
