Kham, also known as East-Tibet and now a part of the province Sichuan, used to be an important part of ancient Tibet. Especially the important printing house in Dege, which is still the largest Tibetan printing house, where most of the Tibetan books were printed manually with the screen printing method. As it was not possible by government agencies to photograph this craft, I looked for a smaller printing house deeper in the Tibetan mountains where I was able to capture the daily life in this Tibetan monastery.
