The economic autonomy of women has been proven to further economic, social and health successes worldwide yet this is further thwarted due to customary laws which prohibit women from owning land or having assets making them more vulnerable to poverty, disease and domestic violence.

These portraits are of women who have become the exception that is changing the way women are viewed in Ugandan society.
