On June 2nd the group "Together We are Bremen" called for a protest in the northern German town. More than 2500 participated. In speeches the organizers drew attention to similarities of racism and racist violence in the US and in Germany. Some of those protesting live in the refugee shelter Lindenstrasse and stated: “Our fight is to end all inhumane practices! ... In this world there is a place for everyone! ... You go to Lindenstraße and you cannot hold your tears! ... We want everybody to live!” Others speaking reported about their early childhood experiences with racism in school. The powerful demonstration ended with music.
