Looking forward to my artist's reception on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm for my solo show at the Griffin Museum of Photography's satellite gallery, WinCam. The exhibit will show work from the series, A Place I Never Knew. This project explores a Muslim-majority city in India, also my family’s ancestral home. The city, once honored under the British Raj by a 15-gun salute, today struggles with poverty, literacy, and the anti-Muslim fervor sweeping the country. This series looks at the city’s storied past, its present, and plays with the Indian-style portraiture popular during the pre-world war era.
