In central Veracruz, a small and unknown fishing village has seen its most precious resources disappear before its eyes. Their beach, once a hundred meters wide, is now only visible during low tide, and in some areas, the sand carried by the tide has swallowed yards, houses, and buildings. The fishing stocks are steadily declining, and with no beach to keep the boats, fishermen and fisherwomen are left desolated and puzzled, wondering what to do to sustain their families. For many, the ideal of the American dream offers the only chance for the present and the future.
