I am a documentary photographer based in Uganda, recently graduated from BA in Industrial Art and Design at the Margaret Trowell School of Art, Makerere University, Uganda. My interest in photography started in secondary when my father gave me a point and shoot camera, and that experience quickly developed into a passion for observing, questioning, and caring about other people through visual language.
I have participated in numerous workshops and trainings in Uganda including the UPPA & Canon Storytelling Workshop in 2017 with Georgina Goodwin. I won Uganda Press Photo Award's Young Photographer Award in 2017 and as a result, I undertook an intensive mentorship programme the following year under the mentorship of Frederick Noy. As a result, I created a body of work titled “The Network”.
I believe that photography is a very important part of storytelling because it creates memories and intimacy. Working as a photographer helps me to question and understand the world around me.
