Jack Sorokin

My passion for photography began at the age of 15, when I began assisting documentary filmmakers and celebrity portrait photographers. Since then, I have developed my artistic voice, earning recognition from the National Endowment for the Arts in 2011 and earning a BFA in photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2015. In 2022, I had the opportunity to attend the prestigious XXXV Eddie Adams Workshop as a student, furthering my education.

My work aims to invite the viewer to reflect on the complexities of the human experience and the dichotomy of tenderness and crudeness that exists within all of us. My goal is to humanize the experiences of often-stereotyped communities and to offer an immersive experience that allows for the voices and stories of these individuals to be heard. Through this work I hope to highlight the importance of vulnerability, community, intimacy in the human experience.
