Private Story
Melancholy Home
As I continue to grow, and now live on the other side of the U.S., away from my upbringing and home, the nostalgia of time passed feels more potent then ever. And with the turbulent times of this year, past memories have become an escape when the present feels too overwhelming.
This project is a mixture of film photographs and writings that paint vignettes of memories of the past. They paint the emotion felt when one thinks of home and childhood. The innocence that dissipates as one grows; the wonder of a child that meets at a crossroads with the realities of an adult; the ever-present motifs that surround each human's personal milestones. As we march onward our memory serves as a bridge between of present and past, blurring the lines of what we know and what we feel. Ultimately, we come to realize that this is what
living is: a bittersweet kaleidoscope of memories, emotions, moments, events and thoughts. This is to be human.
