Periodic markets and especially weekly markets are one of peasant communities' features in the less developed countries. These markets, because of the absence of perennial commercial centers, are finding in the likely populous rural areas such as Iran Caspian plains areas, some regions of Azerbaijan, or the northern parts of Hindu Kush in Afghanistan. The only residual sample in Caspian plain areas of Iran are Local markets of Gilan that are named as "Weekly Gilan Markets" too; these markets are held regularly in the big and little cities and even the big and important villages of Gilan with the variety of agricultural and industrial products during the week from a long time ago. Gilan weekly markets are the most stable type of periodic markets that are observed in Iran and are part of an ancient tradition. The Gilan local markets date is back to before 1968.  But today, these traditional markets are exposed to destruction and They no longer have that boom of the past; the reasons including the effect of US sanctions on people's lives, recession, depreciation of Iranian Rials, and prices jump in the market. The destruction of this tradition will have many negative consequences as loss of identity and culture, poverty, and the destruction of the economy and employment in these regions for local people. Surely with continuing this process, this business method with a history of several hundred years in Iran will disappear, which definitely will lend to many cultural, social, and political consequences.
