Christopher Rubey is a photographer, cinematographer and editor based in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
Christopher, (also goes by Chris), was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. In 2009, he began attendance at the University of Colorado at Boulder for 2 years, pursuing a BA in Psychology, afterwards transferring to the University ofEdinburgh in the UK and graduated with a First Class MA in English Literature. He currently resides with his wife and daughter in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, often working with his local community or indigenous communities of Mexico and Colombia, thus travels often and works internationally. As a flexible and versatile artist, he has shot photography and video, for all categories, from weddings, to documentary & journalism, to commercials, to music videos, to fashion, or sometimes plain abstract and experimental work. His primary subjects of interest are diverse peoples in diverse situations and locations around the world, their stories, their cultures, as well as the beauty and mysteries of the Nature World.
His academic history in literature, psychology, and philosophy informs his sense of aesthetics and narrative. His musical history and affinity (a composer and vocalist who also plays piano and guitar) breathes life into his productions, giving it dynamic intonations of emotion and energy, or in other words, rhythm and 'flow'. His freelance work has gained attention with publications and organizations such as National Geographic, Marie Claire, the Royal Photographic Society, amongst others. Chris tells stories, through photos, films, writing, song, and other forms of media. Self-educated, enthusiastic, and determined, Chris is an all-around creative with a unique vision worth sharing.
