Topics Refugee

Since the outbreak of Civil War in Somalia in 1991 more than 100,000 Somalis migrated to the United States, of which 40,000 settled in Minnesota.

These refugees  established themselves in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis,  many living in the Riverside Plaza building.

The focus of this project was to provide an accurate depiction of the daily lives of the new arrivals and their experience integrating into American culture.
