I'm a Georgia-based photojournalist and documentary filmmaker, specializing in telling stories about the developmentally disabled community, gender diversity, and the wide diversity of the human condition. I produce stories and films with the goal of reshaping the way society views those who are seen as different, misunderstood, mocked, rejected and devalued.
As an independent photojournalist with extensive newspaper and magazine experienceI also contribute images and photo essays on a wide variety of social justice issues to ZUMA Press, which has represented my work for the past 25 years. My 'why' and passion? I have a disabled adult son.  I've experienced the roller-coaster all parents ride when their child has a disability that affects their entire lives. I have a comprehensive understanding and lived experience within the transgender and non-binary community, and I have excellent access to both the disability and gender-diversity populations.
I have more than 30 years' experience as photographer and writer, for publications including Time, Newsweek, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Der Spiegel, LePoint and NBC News, among dozens more.
