Hira is an independent photographer and visual storyteller from Karachi, Pakistan. A fellow of the Program for Narrative and Documentary Practice by VII Academy. She was awarded the Pakistan Photo Festival fellowship in 2021 to pursue her ethnographic project, "Somewhere in Between." Hira also worked as a contributor to Al-Jazeera short stories in her region.
After she said goodbye to her long corporate career, what ignited her interest was the interrelationships between people, communities, and their cultural narratives concerning the rich geography of her region. Over the past few years, Hira has collaborated with various NGOs and INGOs, documenting schools, communities, people, and life in remote Northern valleys, as well as her hometown Karachi.
Her approach to image-making goes beyond just aesthetics; she aims to tell human stories from both sides of the lens, projecting them through the art of storytelling.
