Las Viudas
Las viudas del mal humor.
“Las Viudas”forma parte de la tradición popular y representa el inicio de los carnavales en varias localidades del estado de Morelos.
Una de las versiones de los inicios de esta tradición es que un habitante del pueblo de Jiutepec visito Veracruz y de ahí trajo esta costumbre, la cual lleva celebrandose cada año desde hace aproximadamente 45 años.
Esta celebración consiste, que previo a celebrar el brinco del chileno, las personas deben enterrar su mal humor.
La caracterización de las viudas comienza por la tarde el día del carnaval en un domicilio particular; ahí acuden los familiares, personas que ayudan a maquillar a las viudas y que se vuelven maquillistas y peinadores para dar vida a las chillonas. Mientras los hombres se transforman en mujeres, el son de la banda ameniza, se le dedican una melodía a la familia que presta su casa para hacer la caracterización, conviven con algunos tragos y comida que se comparte con todos los presentes.
En el transcurso de la tarde los rostros de los hombres comienzan a tomar forma de mujeres; visten sus cuerpos con vestidos, algunos de gala, se plantan los tacones y accesorios extravagantes . La noche se acerca y salen a desfilar por las calles del pueblo en caravana acompañados de la banda, bailes, risas y llantos que se escuchan por las calles de Jiutepec.
El carnaval de las viudas que lleva una sátira social y que permite a los habitantes del pueblo expresarse con libertad sobre su sentir hacia el gobierno; números musicales acompañados de parodias y frases chuscas acompañan este carnaval.
En Jiutepec esta celebración sigue siendo una de las de las mas presenciadas, marca el inicio de las fiestas tradicionales del estado de Morelos.

Las Viudas" is part of the popular tradition and represents the beginning of carnivals in several locations in the state of Morelos in Mexico.
One of the versions of the beginnings of this tradition is that an inhabitant of the town of Jiutepec visited Veracruz and from there he brought this custom, which has been celebrated every year for approximately 45 years.
This celebration consists in people burying their bad mood prior to celebrating the jump of the Chilean.
The characterization of the widows begins in the afternoon on the day of the carnival in a private home; family members come here, people who help make up the widows and who become makeup artists and hairstylists to give life to the screaming. While the men are transformed into women, the band is livened up, a melody is dedicated to the family that lends their house to do the characterization, they coexist with some drinks and food that is shared with everyone present.
In the course of the afternoon, the faces of the men begin to take the form of women; they dress their bodies with dresses, some dresses, the heels and extravagant accessories are planted. The night approaches and they leave to parade through the streets of the town in caravan accompanied by the band, dances, laughs and cries that are heard through the streets of Jiutepec.
The carnival of the widows that carries a social satire and that allows the inhabitants of the town to express themselves freely about their feelings towards the government; musical numbers accompanied by parodies and funny phrases accompany this carnival.
In Jiutepec this celebration is still one of the most witnessed, marks the beginning of the traditional festivities of the state of Morelos.
