EL ELOGIO DE LA SOMBRA
Five white eagles surround a remote village in the South. According to the legend told by the first inhabitants the Mirripuyes, these birds symbolize the snow-covered mountain peaks. At an altitude of 2.711 meters stands Los Nevados, a place which does not allow one to forget the trace of its ancestors and in which lives a small community of three hundred inhabitants together with a few forgotten others.
Los Nevados is a place rich in culture, costumbrism and devotion which define the idiosyncrasies of the Andean native of Mérida, Venezuela. From the shadows, one silently contemplates the mysterious beauty of the very space and of the humans who live there. A motionless space with a finite existence and which, with the passing of years, begins to corrode.
Land of oblivion, land close by which with horror we fell in love with says René Char in one of his poems. Los Nevados is that place which invites you to contemplate from the otherness, from the enigma, from the shadow. While we watch how time resists us.

Cinco águilas blancas rodean un pueblo remoto del sur. Según la leyenda contada por los primeros pobladores Mirripuyes, estas aves simbolizan los Picos cubiertos de nieve. A 2.711 m.s.n.m está Los Nevados, un lugar que prohibe olvidar la huella de sus antepasados y en el habita una pequeña comunidad de trescientos habitantes y algún olvidado más.

Un espacio detenido que tiene una existencia finita y, con los años comienza a corroerse.
Tierra de olvido, tierra próxima de la que nos enamoramos con horror, dice René Char, en uno de sus poemas. Los Nevados es aquel lugar que te invita a contemplar desde la otredad, desde el enigma, desde las sombras. Mientras miramos cómo el tiempo nos resiste.
