En Perú, ocho de cada 10 hogares dependen de las mujeres para las labores domésticas y de cuidados, según una encuesta del Centro de la Mujer Peruana Flora Tristán y el Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP). Las mujeres emplean 27,2 horas más a la semana en estas tareas que los hombres. La situación es aún más demandante en las zonas rurales del país: allí las familias usan casi seis horas semanales más que en las zonas urbanas. OjoPúblico acompañó a un grupo de mujeres de las comunidades andinas de Apurímac, al sur del país, para conocer sus desafíos cotidianos en el hogar y el campo, y también cómo han atravesado la pandemia de covid-19.

In Peru, eight out of 10 households depend on women for domestic and care work, according to a survey by the Flora Tristán Center for Peruvian Women and the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP). Women spend 27.2 hours more per week on these tasks than men. The situation is even more demanding in rural areas of the country: there families use almost six hours a week more than in urban areas. OjoPúblico accompanied a group of women from the Andean communities of Apurímac, in the south of the country, to learn about their daily challenges at home and in the fields, and also how they have gone through the covid-19 pandemic.
