Marco Garro is a Peruvian photographer who began his career as a photojournalist in locals newspapers. He has a B.A degree in communication and received a scholarship to complete a master’s photography degree program in Perú. In 2009 and 2011, he received two scholarships from Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano to participate in workshops. Garro is a 2022 Pulitzer Center Grantee and he is currently a National Geographic Explorer. In 2018, he received a photography residency at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac. In 2017, he was awarded first place in the photography salon held by the Peruvian-North American Cultural Institute in Lima. Garro also received first place in the press organization IPYS’s best photography contest. He joined Supayfotos, a Peruvian collective focused on photo documentalism, that has exhibited in Peru and abroad. He represented the collective in the international photojournalism festival Visa Pour L´image for four years straight. Garro has also had a solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Perú, participated in the Biennial of Photography in Peru, and been part of several group exhibitions in festivals and museums exhibitions.
