About
Mark Chen is among the ranks of artists who dedicate their creativity to environmental activism. The narratives in his work aim to raise awareness on sustainability, climate change among other environmental and social issues. While pursuing these goals, he crosses the media boundaries from photography to other visual art, sound art, creative writing and performance. Humor, satire and futurism are the vehicles that carry Chen’s environmental messages.
Mark Chen’s exhibition path traverses locally, nationally and internationally, including the Griffin Photography Museum(Boston), Houston Center for Photography, Fotofest (Houston), the Arc Gallery (San Francisco), and the Artists’ Cabin (Taipei, Taiwan). He has received an MFA degree from the University of Houston.
In addition to his career as an artist, Mr. Chen is an educator who has taught at University of Houston, Houston Baptist University,  Lone Star College and Houston Center for Photography, among other institutions. He is also an avid published author, producing seven book titles on photographic art and techniques from Amherst Media and a project in process with Bloomsbury Publishing.
