Visitors on the wildlife loop inside Custer State Park in South Dakota meet a herd of friendly donkeys better known as the begging burros. The burros were first brought to the park almost a century ago to be used as pack animals to nearby peaks. Once they were no longer needed, they were released to the wild. Today, the burros greet cars on the wildlife loop accepting treats like apples and posing for photos.
