Katie Linsky Shaw has worked as a photographer since college. Following graduation, she worked as a reporter and photographer for small town publications and freelanced for a large, daily newspaper in Memphis, TN. After a move to small-town Arkansas, Katie opened a portrait photography business but continued to do freelance work and photograph personal projects. She moved to Asheville, NC eight years ago where she lives now with her husband and two sons. She continues to work as a freelance photographer and document everyday life. She also seeks out unusual photographic opportunities in Asheville, once named the quirkiest town in America. She’s been documenting her father since his stroke nine years ago capturing his physical and mental decline. And she most recently started a photo project documenting the mental health epidemic with youth and young adults which was inspired by her son's struggles.
