In one month, I will be in Kyrgyzstan for the third biennial World Nomad Games. This is a Olympics-style competition of traditional Central Asian sports that brings together participants from around 80 countries.
My work in Kyrgyzstan will take two forms:
- Livetweeting with images and videos of the events I attend during the week-long tournament. (Twitter: @filmspiritual)
- Shooting an analog format, street photo/documentary style project during the events and then around the country in the remaining time I am there.
Most English-language media has covered this event as a tourism promotion or as a farce. I will shoot it with a respectful and sensitive lens. The voice of my analog work is unique and you will likely not see a similar approach elsewhere.
