Analog spiritualist. Crumbling cities and strange places.
Jon Michael Anzalone works independently on stories of personal interest and significance, carrying out well-studied, politically mature, and humanist photo essays on obscure topics. His work instills the emotion of a time and place, letting the world tell its story without an agenda.
Editorial disclosure: With the growing demands for transparency, I assert that I am a self-taught fine art photographer and not a photojournalist. I am not trained in journalism and have never claimed such accreditation. I never stage images. My work is shot analog (with rare exception), digitally scanned, and edited with Photoshop. My post-production choices include cropping, curves and color correction/balancing, dodge and burn, dust and scratches, and, in very few circumstances, removal of small distracting non-compositional elements. Where such editorial choices are forbidden by competitive rules or guidelines, I do not submit such images. Negatives or direct scans are available upon request.
