Roof Investigations
In order to guarantee the right to housing, the state representative can requisition vacant premises. However, this right is perceived as infringing on the right to property, and is thus very little used, often attacked and defeated in court.
Victims of these oppositions of rights, some poorly housed people choose to free themselves from it and squat these empty dwellings. These squatters are constantly on the lookout for new places to live in order to prevent the next eviction, because living like this means being evicted at any time. On rooftops or underground, discreetly, at night, they look for and explore new squattable buildings.
In 2012 in the Île-de-France region, more than 6% of housing is vacant (329,000 vacant homes out of 5,309,100 according to the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies). In France, in 2010 the weight of rent in the income of tenants has doubled since 1978 (source: Conseil Général de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable).

Enquêtes de toit
Sans-emplois, sans-papiers ou sans-abri, Adrien, Bobby, Titeuf, Goulc’han, Jon et Momo ont squatté presque 4 mois (entre 2011 et 2012) un immeuble du Marais à Paris, qu'ils ont baptisé le "Mabo".
Afin de garantir le droit au logement, le représentant de l'état peut réquisitionner des locaux vacants. Or ce droit est perçu comme portant atteinte au droit de propriété, il est ainsi très peu utilisé, souvent attaqué et défait devant les tribunaux.
Victimes de ces oppositions de droits, certains mal-logés choisissent de s’en affranchir et squattent ces logements. Ces squatteurs sont sans cesse à l’affût de nouveaux lieux à habiter pour prévenir la prochaine expulsion, car vivre ainsi c’est être expulsable à tout moment. Sur les toits ou sous terre, discrètement, la nuit, ils recherchent et explorent des bâtiments squattables.
En 2012 en Île-de-France, plus de 6% des logements sont vacants (329.000 logements vacants sur 5.309.100 selon l’Institut National de la Statistique et des Études Économiques). En France, en 2010 le poids du loyer dans le revenu des locataires a doublé depuis 1978 (source Conseil Général de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable).
