On March 05, 2019 an electricity pylon collapsed on the informal settlement below causing a fire that ravaged 150 structures which left hundreds of people homeless and destitute. Twenty-five years after democracy, South Africa still struggles with basic service delivery and housing. Many are forced to live in unsafe and dehumanising conditions; a testament to the structural and systemic legacy - the lasting oppressions of colonialism and apartheid.
