I am an Anglo-Catalan documentary photographer based in Barcelona.
I work for NGOs focusing on social issues and human rights, producing communication and corporate photography for Fundació Formació i Treball, Médicos del Mundo, Sant Joan de Déu, Assis and European Union social ventures.
I often combine this with education and cultural projects for underprivileged community members, also commissioned by NGOs, so photography is always at the centre of my work. The latest projects I have been working on are, as coordinator of ‘Mirades amb veu’
, a photography award organised by Médicos del Mundo
in Catalonia, directed exclusively at women who are in challenging or underprivileged situations, and photography workshops for women who have been victims of human trafficking.
I have won several awards, grants and recognitions for the cultural and educational projects I have designed and coordinated, such as Art for Change
, 2 ConCa
awards, and a shortlist prize at the Tikinó Festival Internacional documental de Granada
I also develop my own independent photography and audio-visual projects. I feel more at home in the art-world environment of physical spaces rather than photojournalistic formats, despite the fact that I work with subjects usually approached from within the field of photojournalism. I focus on women in challenging situations related to human rights and social inequality.
Examples of recent exhibitions are Photón Photo Festival, Ciclo de fotografía documental Joan Gomis
, Olot fotografía, Palau Robert, Fundación Blanquerna, and LOOP festival (Valencia-Madrid-Barcelona). Examples of recent editorial work is ‘Barcelona Photos Prohibidas
’, ed. La Fábrica and ‘Albedo media’ (on-line photography magazine).
