Après 9 mois de bataille contre l’Etat Islamique menée par l’armée irakienne, appuyée par les frappes de la coalition internationale, la totalité de la ville de Mossoul est reprise.Alors que l’Est de la ville a été relativement épargné par des destructions massives, la vieille ville, qui a accueilli le dernier réduit de Daesh, est presque totalement détruite.Ce reportage a été réalisé durant les deux derniers mois de la bataille.Les civils ont payé un lourd tribut, plus de 600 000 déplacés uniquement à l’Ouest de la ville. Beaucoup d’entre eux ont été victimes de frappes de la coalition, de tirs d’artillerie, ou tués par Daesh dans leur fuite.Les civils ont été pris en étau entre les combattants de l’Etat islamique et l’armée irakienne. Certains sont faméliques et épuisés. De nombreux hommes, accusés hâtivement d’appartenir à la mouvance radicale, seront abattus sommairement par l’armée irakienne lors des derniers jours de la bataille.Ils seraient des milliers à avoir péri durant ces dernières semaines sanglantes.Ce travail photographique raconte leur calvaire.

After 9 months of battle against the Islamic State, the Iraqi army, supported by the airstrikes of the international coalition, the city of Mosul is retaken.
While the east of the city has been spared by massive destruction, the old city, which has been home to the last Daesh stronghold, is almost totally destroyed.
This report was made during the last two months of the battle.
Civilians have been paid a heavy price, with more than 600,000 displaced just in the west of the city. Many of them were victims of coalition strikes, artillery or Daesh in their escape.
Civilians were imprisoned between ISIS and the Iraqi army. Some are hungry and exhausted. Many men, accused to be part of the radical movement, will be summarily killed by the Iraqi army during the last days of the battle.
They would be thousands to have died during these last bloody weeks.
