Summary
A series of images I made over Christmas 2022 while traveling through the American West. It was probably the first time I had spent this time away from family, and I felt a real sense of loneliness that was exaggerated by the landscapes. Some moments I experienced felt surreal–like a weird dream or a Dali painting. As I traveled, I read Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey, and my feelings of loneliness were replaced by deep peace. The rocks transformed into figures, sunsets exploded across the sky, and I was happy to get lost in my own western mirage.
