Adiós, querido extraño
During my father's illness I started without knowing an account about our complex relation and the difficulty of watching him leave once again. For me the camera wasn't in that moment a tool used intentionally to document, but a method to survive and take distance from the painful reality I didn't know how to face. "Goodbye, dear stranger", more than a formal project, is the story about my fight against his disease and subsequently against my sadness and confusion.
Durante la enfermedad de mi padre, Enrique Escobar, empecé sin saberlo un relato que daba cuenta de la complejidad de nuestra relación y la dificultad de verlo partir una vez más. Para mí la cámara no fue entonces una herramienta para documentar intencionalmente, sino una forma de sobrevivir y poner algo entre mí y la dolorosa realidad que por momentos no sabía cómo enfrentar. "Adiós, querido extraño" más que una serie formal es la historia de una lucha por sanar a mi padre de su enfermedad y posteriormente a mí de todo lo que trajo consigo su partida.
