This ongoing project is about the effect on the crop and farmer of Puerto Rican coffee due to climate changes with a focus on the passage of Hurricane Maria through Puerto Rico. I started this project in November after having visited the town of Yauco known as the coffee town in October of 2017. The story I want to convey is like the Puerto Rican coffee which became one of the best coffees in the world, being consumed in the Vatican at the beginning of the 19th century is now at great risk of disappearing by Hurricane Maria and consequently climate changes. Coffee takes about 4-6 years to harvest and the vast majority of farmers are older people, many of whom will no longer grow coffee. Affecting their daily lives and sometimes having to change to other crops to survive.
