Corrupted Landscapes has Thanatos, the impulse of destruction, as its primary inspiration. The photographs, taken in the Lençóis Maranhenses area (northeast of Brazil), have themselves been partially corrupted - the film they where in was left in a high humidity environment before development for a very long time - nature also has its meanings of corruption and destruction. The pictures can be linked to a long tradition of purposely using bad photo material, putting chance as a co-author.

The marks of nature and time on the photographic medium mix with the nature photographed (the landscapes). The human presence is minimal, but essential, to the key aspect of the series.
