For Menlo School, in consideration of the open photographer position

This image shows the young dancers of the Alameda Civic Ballet listening to Artistic Director Abra Rudisil for the upcoming "United We Dance" performance at Kofman Theatre. It represents the journey of a reportage project that I designed, worked with the ballet directors on and was gifted full access for a month of training toward the final community performance.

There is so much interest in these unscripted behind the scenes moments, that I find them just as intriguing as the end performance itself. Here we see a collection of emotions through expression and body position within the image design.

I have always enjoyed photographing art and artists, and continue to work with and support creatives in their respective fields.
Richer and Osmani, two young teenage farmers, fix a broken gasoline powered water pumping motor at the end of long workday on the farm adjoining the Casa del Veguero in Viñales, Cuba. Part of a series on private multi-generational family tobacco farms on Cuba's far West province.

This image created in 2018 represents part of the vast difference in the everyday lives of teenagers in Cuba against those around the world, such as in the bay area. Especially in rural areas, the variety of possible professions is limited, and even in the case of doctors, often see a return of about $80/month in salary.

This photo represents the complex emotions of growing up in a communist environment. Richer told me, as I was leaving after about a week photographing in the area, that he felt sad because no matter where I was able to travel to in the future, he'd still be there, working on the farm.
Kate Tran-Lane for The Vagina Monologues in Alameda (written by Eve Ensler). She has previously been in Jewtopia at the Palo Alto Theater Playhouse, The Amazing Mr. Excellent, and Planet Office. She has an MFA from USC. Outside of acting, Kate is also a yoga teacher, sound healer, and filmmaker.

This image is from a series of eleven portraits commissioned for the marketing campaign of the two day performance of the Vagina Monologues here in Alameda CA. It represents my relationship with the creative world and human rights issues, which I love marrying in with photography. It also shows the command of lighting that I bring to the table with headshots and portraiture.

All of the proceeds from the ticket sales were donated to a local charity, Building Futures, that helps women and families heal and transform after leaving domestic abuse situations.
An NFL game in Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, where I photographed a game of the Cleveland Browns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At the time I was a student as well as a staff photojournalist for The Oracle, one of only 2 student-run dailies in the country. A former student was playing for the Browns, and the paper was doing a story on him, so they asked me to photograph the game. I was fortunate to have photographed on the field many times before, as the school where I was attending (University of South Florida) used the same stadium for their home football games.

This image represents being welcomed into the arena of professional sports, and though at first a bit intimidating, trusting my knowledge to get the job done. In collegiate sports, I'm glad to have experience behind the lens for football, soccer, baseball, track, volleyball, dance, and tennis.
An image commissioned by a website company specializing in building and revitalizing school brands. This was on the California's Central Coast in Carmel.

This represents one of many images created for various schools photographed for the website company. Demonstrating knowledge of photography and careful framing to allow anonymity of the student being tutored, it reflects a successful image even when navigating through situations where there's been direction in discretion when dealing with identity.
