Khumbu Ramba

The Khumbu region of Nepal has captivated travellers and adventurers alike for centuries. Much of it has to do with the hospitality of the Nepali people and the high Himalayan peaks such as Mt. Everest.

The region, however, has undergone vast change due to tourism. In 2016 alone over 37 thousand tourists passed through on treks with the number increasing year by year. The Khumbu is now the wealthiest region in all of Nepal, outpacing even the capital, Kathmandu.

With the explosion of tourism blowing up over the years, the Khumbu has earnt a reputation of becoming too "commercialised." Some say it has lost the original charm that mesmerised visitors in decades past.

With all that is said, the Khumbu, with a little bit of digging under the bakeries, Irish pubs, and WiFi, one is still able to find a region rich in culture, beauty, adventure and unrivalled hospitality.
