"They are marking us"  Blinded by the police.

The chilean revolution started on October 18th, 2019 initially due to an increase of the subway fare ($o.o4) weeks before and with secondary students evading the fare at subway stations. That leads to one of the biggest uprisings in the last decades with, one day alone, more than 1 million people out in the streets asking for major social changes, one of the biggest protests since the end of the dictatorship with the plebiscite of 1988.  The protesters demands are more than just one, but many have called for a change to the pension system, new constitution, public health and an increase of the minimum wage in addition to President Piñera's resignation. In response to the protests, President Piñera declared a state of emergency during the early days of the uprising which allowed for the suspension of certain freedoms, including movement and assembly and curfews were enforced. The police repression during the days of protest has been historic, by the end of the year around 3.583 persons resulted injured during the protests and even breaking the record for eye mutilation due to tear gas cartridges and hard rubber bullets shot by the riot special forces. According to the Chilean society of ophthalmologists and human rights organizations Chile has now the highest number (356 by the end of the year) of cases in the world involving serious ocular complications, eye and sight loss. Santiago, Chile. 2019-2020
