About The Colours of Emotion
Seeing pieces from my Colours of Emotion series hanging in such a prestigious new hotel gives me a strong sense of nostalgia, satisfaction, and pride.
This series was my first solo exhibition as a photographer. It came before my leap into experimental photography, and so in some ways it feels so much further away than years can account for. And yet, seeing the works up on the wall, I immediately reconnect with the artist I used to be.
The original exhibit was in 2019 at ILFORD Galerie Bangkok. Looking back, I realise I still had so many questions about my creative journey and practice. But then again, these works reveal a confidence and energy that I still want to share with the world.
As you can see in the pieces, though I wasn’t quite experimenting with photography as a medium, I was pushing the limits of what I wanted my camera to do and convey.
#ColoursOfEmotion is a series of abstract fine art photography. It represents my work delving into the nature of emotion itself, as well as the way these interior states can be expressed in line, shape, pattern, and (of course!) colour.
In everyday language, we often connect colour to emotion. When we are angry, we see red; when we are envious, we have green eyes. And colour has the power to affect our emotions. Calming blues and exciting yellows can literally change the way we feel.
The Colours of Emotion is my way of exploring these ideas. You can read more about the series here.
