Maureen Beitler is a photographer and nurse living and working in NYC and the Hudson Valley. Her work has been featured regularly in The Sun Magazine. She was awarded an Artist Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts in 2004. Images from her series Faith in Harlem were part of the traveling exhibition “Beggars and Choosers: Motherhood is not a Class Privilege in America and was also part of Moving Walls 9 in 2005 at the George Soros Foundation. Her work documenting Essex County Prison was part of a group photography show at Terrazzo Fine Art Gallery in NYC in 2014. Westernport is part of an ongoing  photographic exploration of a coal-mining town in Western Maryland and beyond. Although, she has embraced the digital world, she continues to use film and darkroom techniques as part of her photographic practice. She continues to work on personal and documentary projects in the US and abroad.
