MATERNITY COVID
In the Covid hospitals, maternal child wards continue to work in full force, not letting the pandemic get in their way. In Lombardy, the Italian region hardest hit by the emergency, the maternity wards of the Sacco hospital and the Mangiagalli clinic in Milan.s have implemented ways to guarantee safety to future mothers and their children.
The Francesca Rava Foundation has raised money, helping them purchase ultrasound equipment, health protection (PPE) and other indispensable equipment to work efficiently and safely during this time, in order to protect mothers affected by Covid-19.
Pregnant women positive for Covid-19 face a difficult moment of their lives with added difficulty and concern. Health workers, covered head to toe in protective gear, are their only contact as they have to isolate themselves. During childbirth the risk of infected the newborn child is very high, sometimes mothers have to be separated from their babies.
Even during an epidemic, hospitals can be places of hope; lives are not only saved here, but new ones begin everyday.
