UNDER THE ICE
The far northern Quebec territory of Nunavik is home to Canada's Inuit people. These images are from a journey there for the New York Times on a hunt to document the tradition of collective mussels under the sea ice when the moon is full and the tides are strong. Only some still practice the activity, with many too fearful of climbing under the ice for the brief minutes that it's not filled with water, some speak of myths when the ice collapsed killing those below.
