June 20, 2017. Seidu Mohammed, 24, in Winnipeg. He lost his fingers to frost bite along with with friend Razak Iyal, 35, while crossing the windswept Prairie border from the United States into Manitoba on Christmas Eve. The two met in a bus station in Minneapolis, and fled together to the border, hoping to escape their deportation orders back to Ghana. Mr. Iyal spent about two years in detention, awaiting his asylum hearing in the United States, while Mr. Mohammed was imprisoned for one. They were both recently received refugee status from the Canadian government.
Latif Ali has been working at the Plaza in Room Service for the past 27 years. Originally from Bangladesh, he has 3 kids and has put one daughter through Med School already, the other is studying medical research, his youngest boy is still in highschool. I love communicating with the guests, people from all over the world come here, it's wonderful to meet them.

Gil Desgroseilliers, 71 years old, began working at the Spruce Falls Mill in 1964 and retired in 2008. He was Vice President of the IBEW Union Local 1149 and his role was to convince the employees that it was a good deal to buy the company. November 28, 2014. A Munduruku youth sits on bags of sugar during an occupation of the FUNAI offices (Brazil's National Indian Foundation) in Itaituba, Para, Brazil. The occupation was in protest to the fact that government has refused to publish official documents that would recognize Munduruku traditional territory. If recognized, flooding of the territory by new hydroelectric development would be illegal under Brazilian Law. Brazil has some of the best environmental and indigenous protection laws in the world, but large scale development such as dams and mines are often decided before environmental reviews have even begin.
July 2013- Chris Grandjambe rides his Quad on the Fort McKay First Nation reserve. Quads are regular for transportation and recreation on the reserve but many people have been injured or killed in accidents.
