Years of experience: 3 to 5
I'm an independent editorial and documentary photographer based in Portland, Ore., and Salt Lake City, Utah.
After a career as a linguist and media content producer for a nonprofit working with Native American tribes throughout the West, I transitioned to full-time freelance photography.
Having worked closely with tribes for the better part of a decade to create language materials and crafted, meaningful photographs, I continue to focus on under-exposed stories in these Indigenous communities and others around the world. My goal is to produce Native-led narratives that belay stereotypes and stray from non-Native-centered points of view.
My focuses include environmental portraits, rugged travel, and documenting the intersections of climate change, food and economy in rural and Indigenous communities.
