Les poumons malades viennent d’être retirés. Pendant ce temps là, le patient est placé sous ECMO, qui est une machine qui se charge de remplacer le temps de la réimplantation les poumons, et qui permet la bonne réoxygénation du sang.

The diseased lungs have just been removed, during which time the patient is placed on ECMO, which is a machine that replaces the time of reimplantation of the lungs, and allows the proper reoxygenation of blood.

Mais parfois tout ne se passe pas comme prévu, ici on a Chloé qui n'a pas pu réimplanter les poumons prélevés plus tôt dans la journée, de pars la mauvaise qualité de l'organe prélevé.

But sometimes everything does not go as planned, here we have Chloe who could not reimplant the lungs taken earlier in the day, because of the poor quality of the organ taken.

Plongez au coeur du service de chirurgie thoracique de l’Hôpital Foch, à Suresnes où j’ai pu suivre et accompagner jusqu’au bloc opératoire, le travail de Chloé et Francesco, deux chirurgiens, ainsi que Charlotte leur interne. Par tous les moyens de transports, ils parcourent la France entière à n’importe quelle heure du jour et de la nuit pour aller chercher, prélever, ramener et enfin réimplanter de nouveaux poumons à leurs patients. Une véritable course pour la vie s’engage lorsque la mort frappe quelque part. Par soucis d’anonymat entre le donneur et le receveur, nous avons mélangé différentes prises de vues de deux prélèvements qui n’ont pas forcément eu la même issue…

Dive into the heart of the thoracic surgery department of the Foch Hospital in Suresnes where I was able to follow and accompany to the operating room the work of two surgeons, Chloe and Francesco, and their intern, Charlotte.
By all means of transport, they travel all over France at any time of the day and night to go and find, collect, bring back and finally reimplant new lungs to their patients.
When death strikes somewhere, it's a real race for life.
In order to maintain the anonymity of the donor and the recipient, we have mixed different shots of two samples that did not necessarily have the same outcome...
