In the spirit of ‘Hiya Biya’ - a Bahraini cultural tradition I personally love at the time of Eid Al Adha and the end of haj, where children dress in beautiful traditional costumes and take a plant (grass shoots) they have taken care of (to teach them about nurturing, patience and sacrifice) and throw it into the sea while singing hiya biya. Over the years, larger beach spaces have hosted the hiya biya events; and bouncy castles, live bands and food vendors have been organized by various societies or private individuals to make it more of an event for the kids. The event is usually attended by the local governor.
