TAMARA S. ALPACHACHI (b. 1978, Kuwait City, originally Iraqi) is an independent Arab-British Documentary and Fine Art photographer, based in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

An old soul and a third culture kid (having grown up in Kuwait, Vienna, London, and Bahrain), her experiences/environment/memories affect her visual narratives. Her documentary work is influenced by her surroundings/heritage and the overriding universal theme of love (especially loss, transience, belonging). Her fine artwork is influenced by her background as an artist/designer where she loves the use of colour and the often overlooked everyday mundane.

She is currently working on personal projects (photobooks) and has been featured in several local exhibitions and has written features or produced photo essays on Arab (Khaleeji) cultural heritage for regional publications such as Brownbook, Bidoun, ARTBahrain, and RUKH.

She presented a sensitive project called ‘Takleef’ at the ‘GPP slidefest’ in Bin Matar House in 2019 and was awarded a scholarship to the renowned VII photo agency workshop ‘No Man’s Land' in July 2020.

Tamara’s biggest inspirations are Luigi Guirri, Saul Leiter, David du Chemin, and William Eggleston.
