Alejandra Carles-Tolra is a photographer and educator from Barcelona currently based in London. 

Her work has been published and exhibited internationally, including The Guardian, CNN, Vice, The Huffington Post, NYTimes’ T Magazine, Circulation(s) Festival in Paris, Jerwood Space in London, PhotoEspana PHotoEspaña and the Wuhan Art Museum in China. In 2016 she was a finalist at the Outwin Boochever Portrait Award at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, was awarded the Jerwood Visual Arts/ Photoworks Award in 2017 and is part of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2018 at the National Portrait Gallery London.

She has taught photography at The University of New Hampshire and Massachusetts College of Art and Design, among other institutions, and she currently collaborates with nonprofit organizations as an art workshop facilitator using visual arts to empower vulnerable communities.
