The Hunter becomes the Hunted As of 18th June 2021, HE President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni instituted strict measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the country. Some of these were the ban of public gatherings, the closure of non food markets, Kikuubo Lane in Kampala City and other crowded business centers. On 21st June 2021, the police and other security organs swung into action to enforce the directives. These vendors were hiding inside a shop the officer was keeping guard at.
Three against one. A Makerere university student amidst three police men in an attempt to arrest him at the university following the demonstration he had engaged himself in that was a signifier to disallow the continued online learning system run by the University administration regardless of the end of the lockdown that saw students accessing the school premises physically more often in reference to other learning institutions.
On Monday 7th February 2022, Makerere University students decided to go up in arms to protest against the continued online learning that was meant to be an alternative in the lock down but continues to be enforced by the University even amidst full re-opening of the economy by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Not only is online learning learning expensive for the students due to the high data rates but also causes social isolation which negatively impacts of the mental health of students.
